Where do you spend most of your time fishing?
Lake of the Woods.
When did you first start fishing?
I started fishing as a young man with my father and brothers. As a young man I fell in love with everything fishing and started a job at small tackle shop which shaped the rest of my fishing career. I enjoyed meeting new people and sharing my passion for catching fish with them.
What is your favorite species to fish?
Musky and Walleye.
How do you approach fishing a new lake?
Tons of study which includes multiple different maps and angler networking. Then I spend my first day driving around learned anything and everything about the habitat.
What is your favorite fishing memory and why?
Winning the MAX Foundation Tournament with my son, Gavin.
If the bite is tough, what’s your go-to strategy to turn things around?
Embrace the challenge. There are always fish biting somewhere.
What's your hidden talent?
I can bend my toes all the way backwards.
What life lessons has fishing taught you that apply beyond the water?
Persistence. It's the angler who never gives up and always has a positive attitude, even when faced with challenging conditions, that comes out successful. In my career I have coined the saying. "LoveTheChase" as a young angler I learned that the catch will come easy. It's the same in life. Teach yourself to embrace each challenge with grace and your goals will come easier.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Take the high road, it's less traveled up there.
What’s one fish you still have on your bucket list?
Tarpon.
