Return to "Love My Lund" Stories

Here are a few of the stories we featured awhile back, in case you missed them...

I always thought "Lund" was a very odd name when I was younger and who would want a boat with an odd sounding name?  Well here it was 30 years later and I was in the market and what rises to the top as the cream of the crop, but Lund.  I really wanted something with a fancier sounding name but when checking feature against feature and total value I ended up with Lund at the top of the list.  It's not what I wanted initially but you can't argue with the facts, so I looked around till I found the Lund that I truly wanted and could afford.  I found a one year old Lund Tyee IO signature in Michigan and bought it after a test run.

It's small enough so we can take it to Canada each year and it's big enough to take on Lake Michigan.  My wife and I both love it.  I hope to enjoy it for many years to come.  It has all the features that we have come to rely on to make our fishing trips enjoyable.  The top and enclosures are really important in Canada where things change from sunny to rainy and cold in a day.  The large fuel tank allows days without refueling and the sound system entertains us (and the fish).  I especially like the small transom for the kicker engine.  I can sit on the IO deck and operate the kicker very easily.  We have been in some storms with very big waves and have felt safe at all times.  I would not trade this Lund for anything else.  I am very happy with it.  Thank you.

I  wanted a boat ever since I was a child.   When my parents decided to sell their boat when I was fourteen I was crushed.   Three years ago I bought a brand new Lund Pro Sport with a 115HP Yamaha.   There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted a Lund.   I go to the boat shows at least twice every year, and I have yet to find a boat that could give me "boat envy."   There simply is no boat that I want besides the one I have.  I am completely satisfied.  It is the perfect extension of myself.

I am a full time professional guide on Lake Oahe, South Dakota.  I have owned 6 new Lund boats in the 10 years I have been operating my guide service. Lake Oahe is over 200 miles long with over 2000 miles of shoreline and I have had my Lund 1800 Fisherman out in some serious waves and weather and she has NEVER let me down.  My Lund can handle the day-to-day pounding of a guide boat that kills other boats.   Clean up is a breeze with my vinyl floor.  Just power-spray the mess away!

Lake Oahe is a world class walleye fishery and my Lund is set up perfectly to fish in these big waters.  It is nothing to run over 20 miles one way in the course of a days fishing and when a storm rolls in I know I can count on My Lund to get us home safe and sound.  No fish is worth your life so SAFETY FIRST.

When I trade boats every 2 years I can count on Lund boats to hold their value.  Talk to other brands of boats owners and ask what their trade difference is.  I have yet to see a better deal than a LUND!  Lund boats hold their value much better than any other boat in my estimation.

My customers love the layout of my 1800 Fisherman, lots of room to fish and livewells both front and rear makes for a nice day of fishing.  The aft jumpseats are the best thing I have seen in a long time,  they are there when you need them and when you don't need them they fold down in to the aft fishing deck.
To make a long story short I owe a lot of my success in guiding and in walleye tournaments to Lund boats and I would recommend them to everyone.   Thank you Lund Boats!!!!!

I picked up my new Classic 16 on April, 9th of this year.  It has been an awesome experience from the very beginning.  The boat and I have traveled to Mille Lacs in Minnesota, the Chippewa Flowage in Wisconsin, and Clearwater Lake in Missouri and my home waters are the Mississippi River in southeast Minnesota.  In all the times that I have been on the water, I must say that I have not been disappointed because the boat has preformed well in all of the bodies of water I have launched it in.  My family accompanies me on occasion and they are safe and comfortable in it as well, so much so that they let me know that they want go out in it almost as much as I do.

I have wanted my own Lund boat for many years and I am very happy that this year I was finally able to purchase one.  Thank you for making a quality product that I am very proud to own.   Keep Up the Great Work!

I bought a used Lund 16 boat and motor a couple of months ago.  I wanted a Lund because I was told they were the strongest boat with the best ride and of course, the best resale value.  I took my two boys fishing every weekend for the past couple of months, and then last weekend, disaster struck.

I was traveling down the highway when I saw an axe flying out of the sky towards my windshield.  The person in front had it strapped to his roof rack and it fell off, bounced high in the air and then came down straight at me behind the windshield.  I was quite a ways back but that didn't help.  My only choice to avoid being killed was to swerve right and take the shoulder.  I started to lose control as the boat went down into the ditch, turned on its side, and scooped up a load of gravel from the shoulder.  I tried to correct and the truck started to roll.  The boat finally broke away from the hitch and the safety chains held, then snapped where the eyes were welded to the tongue of the trailer.  I regained control to watch the boat skidding down the highway as vehicles swerved to avoid hitting it.

With my holidays coming up August, 1, and a whole week of fishing and tubing planned with kids, I was quite sad.  I figured I'd try and see if it floated and if the motor would run and to my surprise, it ran and floated.  In fact, I could not find a leak!  The keel is twisted, both sides are smashed in, some of the supports are broken off and the casting deck is wrecked, but it still floats.  I may try and use it yet, at least to tide me over.  I can't really afford another boat, so I guess we will use it for now, hope for the best, and just be happy I was not killed or any other people.  None of my friends can believe it floats.  The damage is much worse than the one picture here shows.  I keep telling them - it's a LUND!

I got my new Lund 1900 Pro V IFS in early August. Wow.  I am sure impressed with that boat.  It has out performed every expectation that I had before I got it. I couldn't be happier with the boat.

The first tournament that my partner Ed Clements and I fished out of it was the final GNWC Michigan division qualifier on Saginaw Bay.  We ended up winning the event, which gave us enough points to clinch the Team of the Year award as well.  That was followed by the GNWC Michigan Regional Championship on Siginaw Bay where we finished in second place.  It was quite a weekend for us and the new boat was a big part of our success that weekend.

It may sound unbelievable, but five passengers and I owe our lives to my 2001 Lund Tyee 1850.  We were boating on the St. Croix on  July 2002 and finishing up a great boating day.  Around 4:30 pm on the way home, we were hit from behind by a larger Cruiser, which ran up and over the top of my boat.  Tragically, one passenger died that day but five others, including myself, survived after the boat stayed afloat despite taking on a full hull of water.

The rescue team from the Washington County Sheriff's department marveled at how well my Lund stayed afloat and never tipped, saying we owed our lives to the quality of Lund Boats.  I bought a Lund Tyee 1950 after being released from the hospital and will have it for years to come!  They are the safest and sturdiest boats on the water!

For years I have watched TV fishing shows and I have always seen the outfitters using Lund boats, I kept telling myself that one-day I would buy one.  Well, having an interest for nostalgic boats and luck on my side, I came across the Lund boat of my dreams, a 1968 14-footer in great condition.

As soon as I refurbished the poor paint job the previous owner applied, she will be commissioned once again.  I cannot believe the workmanship and quality of this wonderful boat.  I am looking forward to hearing the sound of my fishing line twanging and those magical words “fish-on."

I grew up in central Minnesota where Lund is the king of fishing boats.  Growing up we had two different small Lund boats that we never had problems with, so when it was my turn to finally buy a boat I knew what I wanted but had to convince my wife.  Now, keep in mind my wife is the pickiest person you will ever meet.  After attending numerous boat shows, several dealers more than one time, she was convinced that the best made, and highest quality boat on the market was a Lund. So in the spring of 2004 we bought a new 1850 Tyee.  Everywhere from Canada to local lakes our Tyee impressed everyone, even the die-hards.  My neighbor who is on his second speed boat from another company marvels at the way my Tyee handles the rough water.  We love our Lund boat, and will never own anything different.  My only regret is that now that everyone wants to either go fishing or tubing with us I believe I should have bought the 1950 Tyee for more room.

I just bought a new 1800 Fisherman ITS.  It cost more than I've ever spent on myself before, but I tell you it's so GOOD because there are no unpleasant surprises with my Lund.  It's an I.O. and it's: quiet.  very comfortable!  classic.  dependable!!
After my last new I.O. I knew my next boat would be a Lund and it is so much better than the rest.  It's  the best value I've ever had on the water.

This is my first Lund,  I bought it this year from a friend of mine who has owned it since it was new. I have three boys so I figured the best thing was to buy a boat and the Lund was a first choice. We love it to death. We are out every weekend and even during the week after work and school. Lund is  rock-solid and performs well. We fish with it, intertube with it; name it we are doing it. If I could only drive this baby to work. Money well spent. Thanks Lund for the great rock-solid durability you have provided my family.  We wouldn't settle for anything less then a Lund. This picture of my lund has been freshly painted and decaled.  Man is this Lund sweet!
