Here are a few of the stories we featured awhile back, in case you missed them...
I have a 1993 Lund 1850 tyee, On April 9th 2005 I was fishing Lake Erie out by Turtle Island in 3 to 4 footers, When a crew mate noticed a flair go up we looked over and saw a boat bailing water and waving their arms so we headed over as fast as possible. Just as we got to them their deck boat went under. There were 11 people on that boat the water temp was about 44 degrees so I knew we had to try to get them out. My crew started hauling in people while I contacted the coast guard we managed to get all but 1 man on board he was an older gentleman and we couldn't lift him and he couldn't help pull himself in. The coast guard got there fast and they boarded 2 men to help pull in the older gentleman. So now I have 16 people on my LUND and she took it great!!! I was never so glad to own a Lund Boat in my life. All people including 2 children and 1 elderly on board the stricken boat were all right after being treated for mild hypothermia. So that’s my Lund Boat story. -- Larry M., Hastings, MI
| I bought my OD 16' SSV from Master Marine in Mount Vernon, WA in 1998. It is used every October through January to duck hunt on the Columbia River. We hunt big water and the shore is broken lava rocks. It is not unusual to have 40 knot winds and I have been hauling decoys in winds a lot stronger. Temperature in Eastern Washington range from 60 to minus 20. The Lund has been bounced around on these sharp rocks for hours, day after day. It has been dragged over the rocks as the river is dammed and the level can vary more than 10 feet in hours. We put out about 100 decoys, half puddlers and down wind half divers. This boat is powered by a 25 Suzuki and runs about 27 light and 24 loaded with decoys and blinds. It has been a perfect boat for the big waters of the Columbia, especially given the huge water fluctuation of the irrigation driven water use behind the dam. The picture is launching for our 8 mile run upstream in the dark and snow. It blew at least 40 knots that day and snowed most of it as well. What is really surprising is how durable the bottom has been given the sharpness of the lava rocks which tears boots and waders up in a season. I just take a metal file and smooth off the rough edges, paint over the worst spots and she is ready for another year. We use the boat for crabbing and salmon fishing in Puget Sound in the summer as well. I bought the Lund because they are the boat of choice in Alaska where your life may depend on it. Well my life on the Columbia River depends on it as well. My safety gear includes the usual, lifejackets, flares etc, but I also have the ACR TerraFix I/O Personal Satellite Locator Beacon and a VHF radio and strobe light. There are very few people on the river and in nasty weather we are often the only ones for 10 miles either way. Thats why we have equipment that we can trust.

I always wanted to borrow my Dad’s boat, but being the youngest male child, I always had to go with an older brother. My Dad since passed away, and have two boys 7 & 10, I am proud to say I finally saved enough to find a great used LUND. It says NISSWA, but I am unsure of its exact model. It is a 1987 and is in FINE shape. I got it late in 2004, and my boys are as eager as I am to get it out fishing! We look forward taking it to Leech Lake Minnesota for a summer vacation fishing trip! Someday I'd like to become a professional fisherman, in a NEW Lund! Boys can still dream, right???? --Scott V., Grafton, WI
| Brooke (age 4) and Jenna (age 2) are cousins who recently went on a fishing adventure. Both girls caught a bluegill within 10 minutes of anchoring the boat. Here's a picture of the proud "fishergirls". --Kelly U., Kimberly, WI |
Hey, this is my first Lund, a Lund Explorer 1650. It was purchased at M-W Marine in Hales Corners , Wisconson in March of 2005. She is the boat of my dreams, I just love her fishability. She also is perfect for Lake Winnebago to Lake Mendota , even in rough conditions. I love to fish for panfish, bass, northens and musky. She is the finest fishing machine on the water, even my guests that come aboard feel safer in the boat and love what a high and dry smooth ride she gives. I will hate the day when I will be forced to put the boat away for my first time but at least I can enjoy the time of my life in this boat for years to come. -- Jerry, A. Webber, WI
| Whether taking the family fishing or running 3-4 foot rollers on the Mississippi River on a camping trip, my Lund delivers. Bump it off of rocks, run it up on a sand bar and it will always bring you home. I bought my 1995 1775 Tournament Pro V SE 5 years ago and will probably never get rid of it..... at least, that is, until I decide to go and buy another one. With my 1997 Mercury 150 EFI outboard turning a 23 Tempest at 5200 rpm, it runs 54-55 mph by GPS all day long. An excellent value. Never had a second thought about my purchase. --Gregg S., Wisconsin Rapids, WI |
I currently own and use 2 Lund boats. A 1988 Baron, and a 2000 16 ft. Alaskan. The Alaskan is also equipped with a duck blind and is used mostly for hunting waterfowl in Minnesota. I previously owned a 1984 WS-16, which I sold, (for about $400 more than I paid for it new), when I bought the Baron. One event that solidified my loyalty to Lund happened about 6 years ago, when I hit a large boulder, just under the surface of the Rainy River, while traveling at a speed of 25 mph. The force of the collision bounced the fish in the live-well out onto the floor of the boat, along with 2 of my passengers. A quick investigation on the river revealed only a trickle of water leaking into the bilge, which was easily handled by either of the two standard bilge pumps. The lower unit of the I/O was tilted up at an odd angle and I feared the worst. However, I pushed the tilt control down and the lower unit moved smoothly back into position. I started the motor, put it in gear, and everything sounded and operated fine. I realized then that there must have been some type of emergency release mechanism on the lower unit and that it had operated as designed. After a few more minutes to assure ourselves that we still had a secure and operational boat, we continued fishing for the remainder of the day. After pulling the boat that day, I discovered a dent in the keel, a small crack in the aluminum hull, and a hole in the lower unit housing in front of the prop. I believe that the toughness and quality construction of this boat averted what could have been a disaster for me and my 3 companions that day. Although there were other boats in the vicinity, it was early April, and the water temperature was around 38 degrees. It is uncertain if we could have survived in the river if the boat had sunk. After the necessary repairs, my 1988 Baron was “as good as new” and continues in service as I’m awaiting the opening of the 2005 Minnesota fishing season in. With this amount of experience and confidence with Lund boats, I can only say that I simply would not consider any other brand. --Arlen S., Plymouth, MN |
| I bought my Lund Alaskan 18 at the Augusta boat show a year ago. After a long season of total enjoyment, I keep telling all my friends, I'm living the dream! My wife and I have cruised the Kennebec River eagle watching so many times I've lost count! We bass fished all summer sometimes being in as many as 3 different lakes a day. I made over 25 duck hunting trips in the boat this fall and my last trip of the season was out on the Atlantic for a seaduck hunt on January 9th!! The boat and motor performed flawlessly and handled everything that was asked of it. I couldn't be happier or prouder of my Lund! -- Brad S., Whitefield, ME |
I purchased my first Lund late in the fall of 2004. My purchase was a "01" 1775 Tournament Pro V w/ a 115 hp fuel-injected Evinrude that only had 2.5 hours of run time on the motor. I always admired Lund boats and had to take the plunge when this boat came along. I could not wait for the warm weather to arrive so I could try my new boat. I have had it out several times so far this summer and love the quality and integrity of the boat. I was a little concerned if I would like an aluminum boat after owning a fiberglass boat for so many years but my fears were unfounded. The boat is very stable and also easier to tow. I look forward to spending as much time as possible in my Lund this summer. Thanks for building such a great boat. --Vern j., Manitowoc, WI
| In 2004 my wife and I retired. My dream was always to own a Lund boat. My dream came true when we purchased a 2004-2150 Baron. Both of us are avid fisherman and we make several trips to Canada each year, so we wanted a boat that we felt safe in. I love my Lund boat and it has exceeded all my expectations. I also fish Lake Michigan with my Lund and feel safe and secure. Thanks Lund! --Jerry B., Winfield, IL |
